Description
It is a Pale Lager that is part of the Munich Helles style. This beer, originally from Bavaria in southern Germany, was born at the end of the 19th century in the Spaten brewery, created by the Maestro Brewer Gabriel Sedelmayr. Spaten originally intended to compete with the then very popular Czech Pilsener. In fact, it is the first lager brewed in the Bavarian region, due to the growing consumer demand of the time for “clear” beers (Helles is clear in German).
- This is a very balanced beer with a very clean aromatic profile, in which the presence of pilsen malt with its slightly sweet and grainy notes occupy a well-deserved foreground.
- It pairs well with traditional dishes of Mediterranean gastronomy such as paella, fideuá, or senyoret rice. It marries in a masterful way with traditional snacks, such as mojama, ham and Iberian sausage, esgarraet, some olives, anchovies in vinegar, fried almonds or some good potatoes.
