A somewhat spicy, dry, strong Trappist ale with a pleasant rounded malt flavor and firm bitterness. Very aromatic, with spicy, fruity and light alcohol notes that combine with the clean sustaining character of the malt to produce a surprisingly drinkable beverage considering the high alcohol level.
- Aroma: Complex bouquet with moderate to significant spiciness, moderate fruity esters, and low alcohol and hop aromas. Generously spicy, peppery and sometimes with phenols like cloves. The esters are reminiscent of citrus fruits such as oranges, but can sometimes have a mild banana character.
- Appearance: Deep yellow to deep gold in color. good clarity. White, creamy and rocky foam of long duration.
- Flavour: A marriage of spicy, fruity and alcohol flavors supported by a smooth, rounded grainy-sweet malt impression, occasionally with a very light honey note.
