Alcoholic-free beers in the European Union and the United States are beers with less than 0.5% alcohol and are made in the same way as traditional craft beers, but eliminating ethanol through two processes:
- the first process would be by filtration, that is, boiling the already fermented must to expel the alcohol:
- the second is by dilution with water, which consists of adding water to the must to reduce the alcoholic strength.
Non-alcoholic beers are not a style, therefore they are not included in the BJCP Style Guide (Beer Judge Certification Program), since in fact any style of beer can be made without alcohol, currently the most traditional styles are Pilsner, India Pale Ale (IPA) and Brown Ale ("toasted").
