Entrevista: De birras con Dimitry - Craft Beer Sketch - Beer Sapiens

Browsing Instagram in search of pages that talk about beers is quite entertaining and informative, in the end there are thousands of active accounts showing tastings, beer experiences, collections, etc. But some profiles stand out for their unique way of conveying their passion for the world of beer, in this case we are talking about the page Craft Beer Sketch ( @craft_beer_art ).

Directed by Dimitre, a Ukrainian artist who lives in Barcelona and who considers himself a hop freak, the account shows drawings that mix hops with everyday elements or references from the pop art world. To find out more about his work, we did an interview with Dimitri, in the end all information from the brewing world must be shared: the more, the better!

1.Tell us a little about who you are:

Very good. My name is Dimitry Ignatyev and I like a good craft beer and illustration. I'm Ukrainian, but I've been here in Spain for many years and I already consider myself to be from here. I live in Ivars de Urgell is a small town near Lérida (Catalonia).

2.When did you start drawing?

I think I started making my first drawings when I was 6 years old and then I couldn't stop.

3.Why draw about the world of beer?

Basically the reason why I started making illustrations about beer is very simple: beer and drawing are two of my main passions in life and that's why I wanted to bring them together in a single project and in this way share this passion with more people.

4.Where do your inspirations come from to draw and mix them with the references of the beer universe?

Mainly all my inspirations come from the varied and fun world of craft beer. But apart from that, I'm always thinking of some interesting idea or combination to illustrate. As you can see in my Instagram profile, I'm a hop freak, I see hops in everything :))

5.When did your passion for the world of craft beers begin?

More or less ten years ago. If I remember correctly, my first contact with an artisan beer was with a Belgian blonde.

6.What is your favorite illustration?

It's hard to pick just one as your favorite at first. They all have something special for me, but if I had to choose one it would be hop owl.

7.Your favorite hobby:

I'm going to name several: I like to travel, read books and lately I've become fond of crafts with wood.

8.A favorite style of beer:

I don't have a preferred style. There are many factors that can influence: mood, company, time...With colleagues I really enjoy a good hoppy beer. If I'm alone I prefer a good imperial stout or a belgian tripel to enjoy it very calmly, with a good read or a movie.

9.Ideal beer pairing:

For me there are two possible options.A good Baltic Porter or an Imperial Stout with a chocolate dessert (because they complement each other perfectly) and another option would be a Belgian Trappist with an artisanal cheese (because of the contrast they can have and thus generate a unique sensation)

10.How to buy some of your illustrations?

It would be as simple as contacting me. But apart from illustrations I also do postcards, posters and stickers. And I hope that this year I can finally release a line of t-shirts with my designs.
