Cervezas alemanas: 15 recomendaciones - Beer Sapiens

We are sure that with the arrival of good weather, and after the last articles in which we talked about the history of German beers and its main styles, you are looking forward to Have some cold beers German style.

As always, we are going to make it easy for you. To do this, we have selected for you 15 German-style beers for you to discover, taste and enjoy all the possibilities of this brewing school.

Basqueland Santa Clara Helles Lager

We start this journey through the most characteristic German style with a refreshing and light blonde beer in the style of the Helles of southern Germany. Straw yellow in color with white fluffy foam, it is also extremely drinkable. And you like that, right?

This beer can be found in 33cl and 44 cl

format

San Frutos Lager German Pils Gluten Free

SanFrutos Lager German Pils Sin Gluten 33cl

At Beer Sapiens we work hard to make options available to everyone, and gluten-free beers are imposed as an alternative, both for celiacs as for fans of beers who do not want to abuse cereals.

And, of course, we have gluten-free beers in lager format, like this one from the brewery San Frutos, a traditional lager, fresh, light and balanced, made with authentic German hops (Hallertau Mittelfrüh).

La Sagra Lager Without Alcohol 0.0

La Sagra Sin Alcohol 0,0 Lager 33cl

As with gluten-free beers, we like to offer 0.0% options. The advantage of craft beers is that they are made with such care that they are all delicious. Of course, it is not easy, but brewing experts such as La Sagra achieve a crystal clear lager, with abundant foam and a golden color that has nothing to envy its alcoholic sisters.

Opulence Export Lager Crane

La Grúa Opulence Export Lager 44cl

And to end the beers of this style, we want to surprise you with one that is a little out of the norm. This Export Lager, is made with four different types of Spanish malts, will amaze you with its flavors and aromas of bread, cookies and cereals. Ideal to combine with appetizers or salads.

Caliph Clean Wheat Weissbier

Califa Trigo Limpio Weissbier 33cl

We start with this style of beer linked to the region of Bavaria. This beer is inspired by this style (in fact, it uses authentic German hops, like Hellertau), although the final recipe has a little less body, which makes it much more refreshing and drinkable. Ideal to start with our tasting.

The Quince Weizeland Hefeweizen

A pale, refreshing, lightly hoppy German wheat beer with high carbonation, a dry finish, spongy mouthfeel and a distinctive banana-clove Weizen yeast fermentation profile.

The Ayla Demeter Weissbier

El Ayla Demeter Weissbier 33cl

Did you know that Demeter is the goddess of agriculture and her symbol is the ear of wheat? And she is also the name of this other beer that follows the traditional German recipe. The result is a pale, refreshing drink with high carbonation, a dry finish, a spongy mouthfeel and a distinctive banana-clove yeast character. We recommend combining it with a plate of sushi.

The Quince White Tusk Hopfenweiss

The last of the Weissbiers that we would like to recommend is a little more complex, as it combines Mandarina Bavaria, Polaris and Saphir hops from Queen County Hop Farm, from Navarra. A silky beer with flavors and aromas of tropical fruits, which pairs great with seafood and (the LA Quince brewery tells us) also with jazz and bossa nova music.

White Tusk Hopfenweisse 44cl

Althaia Heliodora Berliner Weisse 33cl

We move on to the Berliner style, with this wheat beer with an acid touch and no hint of hops, proposed by the Althaia brewery ( with addition of blood oranges).

Cierzo Brewing Maglia Rosa Berliner Weisse

And how man doesn't live on wheat alone, and at Cierzo Brewing they give this style a twist by incorporating beers into the recipe for this beer. You will see what a spectacular contrast between the acid character of this German style and the sweetness of the fruit. For greater enjoyment, it only has 3 degrees of alcohol, so it is an ideal beer to cool off in long sips (and repeat as many times as you want)

Beer Kölsch Chair

Cátedra Beer Kölsch

We begin our tour of regional German beers with the Kölsch. This style, based on an old recipe, which has been perfected over the years with current production techniques.

And if you have never tried it, we suggest this lady beer that has won all the awards: the Barcelona Beer Challenge 2019 Silver Medal, the Process for Sustainable Development - European Business Environment Awards 2020 and the Molina Innovation for Brewers - Barcelona Beer Challenge 2021, among others… What are you going to find? A golden beer, with a creamy, smooth and refreshing foam with an intense flavour. Couldn't ask for more.

Peninsula Grapefruit Squeezer Kölsch

Grapefruit Squeezer is a 4% Kölsch style beer flavored with grapefruit, a citrus fruit that gives it a different bitterness than hops. Super fresh, perfect to drink non-stop surrounded by friends and caps of mussels, octopus and other seafood.

Península Pomelo Squeezer Kölsch

Gross Karakoltx Kölsch

An option in a 44 cl can to prolong the tasting of this top-fermented, smooth and refreshing beer. It goes great with white fish and lemon chicken.

Gross Karakoltx Kölsch

The Sagra Bamberg Rauchbier

In our store we also have this German style, whose origin goes back centuries in the German city of Bamberg.

Although we don't have to go that far to produce this beer, because our friends at La Sagra in Toledo make it with care, following the traditional technique, that is, with air-dried barley malt heat from burning beech wood.

Cierzo Brewing Fumelier Rauchbier

Another beer that has followed the classic guidelines of the style, which gives it such an authentic smoky flavor. Its golden color will surprise you as much as its caramel touch.

Cervezas alemanas: 15 recomendaciones

This is just a selection of 15 German beers to try, but if you take a look around our shop you'll find many more. In addition, like every month, we are going to organize a special tasting focused on this Brewing School. You have all the information here.

Alone, accompanied or with online tasting, or stop tasting this style with so much history and perhaps, due to the great popularity of Lagers, a little left aside when we think about craft beers! There is a lot of variety and some surprises! Cheers!
